New great-grandparents Joe and Jill Biden visit Naomi in hospital after her c-section as wildfires rage nearby
President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden visited Naomi Biden and their first great-grandchild at Cedars Sinai Hospital on Wednesday as wildfires raged miles away.
Naomi would give birth via caesarean section, the president had previously revealed in an interview with USA Today.
She and her husband Peter Neal now live in California after Peter got a job in Los Angeles.
Naomi’s father Hunter Biden and his second wife Melissa Cohen and their son Beau were seen arriving at the hospital as the presidential motorcade rolled in.
The president spent just over 40 minutes at the site before heading to a fire briefing at Santa Monica Fire Station 5.
There he told a crowd of emergency workers and reporters that he had become a great-grandfather that day.
“There’s only one good news,” Biden said, alongside California Governor Gavin Newsom and Senator Alex Padilla.
“My son and his wife live here, and yesterday they were notified that their house had probably burned to the ground. Today it looks like it’s still standing, but that’s not certain,” Biden began. “But the good news is that as of today, I’m a great-grandfather.”
“My oldest granddaughter once had a 10-pound baby girl, a baby boy,” he said, making a quick correction to the child’s gender.

The president and first lady were in California for what the White House said was an official visit.
Biden would announce the protection of hundreds of thousands of acres of Californian land from oil and gas drilling.
But high winds and raging fires forced him to cancel those plans and spend Tuesday at his Los Angeles hotel. There were no public events on Wednesday’s schedule, other than a departure to LA.
The White House has since said the president will receive an on-site briefing before leaving. He spoke with Newsom by phone Wednesday morning prior to the hospital visit. Cedars Sinai Hospital is not currently in an evacuation zone.
The Bidens knew Naomi’s delivery date in advance.
Biden said USA todayin an interview earlier this week, that Naomi would have a caesarean section on Wednesday. And that he went to California to see her.
“I’m about to be a great-grandfather, Jesus God,” he said.
‘I’m going to California. She will undergo a C-section on January 8,” he added.

Naomi Biden, 30, is the eldest daughter of Hunter Biden and his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle.
He will be Hunter’s first grandchild and the Bidens’ first great-grandchild.
Jill Biden addressed the Biden family news at a women’s health conference she hosted at the White House last month.
“We talked about this this morning: research that uses genetics to find a cause of extreme morning sickness, and I heard about this a few weeks ago, and I was especially interested because my own granddaughter was going through the same thing,” she said.
Then she broke into a big smile and announced, “Because we’re going to be great-grandparents!”
The room erupted in applause.
The Bidens spent Christmas together at the White House. Ashley Biden, the Bidens’ daughter, posted a family photo to her Instagram Story.
In it, Naomi stands in the back with her husband Peter, her belly hidden by other family members.

Naomi Biden announced her pregnancy on election night
Naomi Biden announced her pregnancy on the night of the 2024 presidential election with a post on her Instagram account.
“(We) voted,” she wrote on her Instagram Story, sporting a prominent baby bump with an “I voted” sticker on it.
DailyMail.com exclusively revealed in May that Naomi and her husband Peter Neal were expecting their first child.
There has been speculation for months as she expected. There was talk of a state dinner in May.
Naomi, who is known for wearing form-fitting clothes for her slim figure, wore loose-fitting dresses several times when she was spotted out in public.
As she and Neal entered a White House state dinner for Kenya in May, Neal appeared to gesture to his wife’s stomach as they posed for photos.
As she leaned against him, what appeared to be a baby bump was visible in her long, roomy, pleated metallic cape and Diana Ayad dress.
At one point, Neal appeared to point to her stomach.

A month earlier, Naomi wore another flowy dress during a state dinner at the White House with Japan.
Naomi worked as a lawyer in Washington, DC
She and Peter lived briefly in the White House before moving to Georgetown and then moving to the West Coast.
They married in a lavish ceremony on the South Lawn on November 19, 2022.
She was the first presidential grandchild to marry in the White House.
