Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky slammed by fans for letting their daughter India Rose, 12, do rodeo

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky made their fans turn against them this week when they entered their teenage daughter, India Rose, in a steer ride event.

The couple shared a video on Instagram on Monday of them watching anxiously from the sidelines as their 12-year-old jumped on the back of a male calf for the introductory bull riding competition.

India was brutally thrown from the handlebars as soon as it burst from the chute, shocking fans who flocked to the comments section to condemn actors Chris, 41, and Elsa, 48, for allowing their daughter to participate in such a dangerous rodeo event to do.

‘Omg! So dangerous and irresponsible. Poor children!’ one follower was concerned.

“This is not okay… this is animal abuse. If your child gets hurt, don’t blame the bull,” said another.

‘This is a crazy joke, the animal is a living being and is stressed. You should have compassion and not participate in this mindless entertainment, let alone support children in it,” a third person wrote.

Someone else said it was ‘absolutely disgraceful’ to enter India for the rodeo.

‘It is appalling to put children at risk of serious harm to glorify this cruelty. “Many Australians are working to ban rodeos, and the promotion of this outdated and harmful practice is deeply disappointing,” she added.

Despite the backlash, a wave of fans stepped in to defend Chris and Elsa, saying they should be “proud” that their child was willing to attempt such a dangerous event.

‘She’s a little legend! Nice driving Indy!’ one person congratulated.

“Good job I’m a mother of an eight year old who starts bull riding and it stops your heart,” another added.

A third commented: ‘That’s the look of a proud mother, your children are truly blessed.’

“I bet you held your breath from the moment the gate opened until the buzzer. I love that you were able to put your fears aside and cheer your baby up enough to get him on that beast and ride it. I would be as proud as a peacock,” one user commented.

In the video shared by Chris and Elsa on Instagram, the couple was seen whipping up their daughter, who was dressed from head to toe in safety gear, including a helmet.

“Woohoo, come on girl,” Elsa said with a beaming smile as the Fast and Furious star hugged India from behind.

Chris fist bumped her as he filmed her getting into the chute and jumping onto the steering wheel.

India was thrown to the ground at the first buck and fell on her back as the bullfighters intervened to divert the steer from her.

The pre-teen appeared unharmed as she left the arena, with her younger brother also attempting to steer later in the evening.

The 10-year-old was also kicked off on the first box.

Elsa captioned the video, “Starting the year with a little adrenaline! Rodeo night! I’m about to have a heart attack!’

The Spanish model and actress then tagged J&J Rodeo, the NSW company that organized the event.
