AFL star Daniel Gorringe welcomes first child with wife Ana Cannon and reveals his daughter’s sweet name

Daniel Gorringe has welcomed his first child with wife Ana Cannon.

The former AFL and Big Brother star took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the arrival of his daughter as she revealed her sweet name.

The 32-year-old shared a series of sweet images of his precious daughter, including one that showed her being tenderly cradled in mother Ana’s hands.

Another photo showed Daniel gently placing the newborn in the bath, while a third showed a photo of Bub next to a photo of the proud parents beaming widely as Ana cradled her daughter.

Daniel revealed his daughter’s name with the photos.

“It’s officially Poppy’s world and we’re just living in it,” he wrote.

He continued with the answers, revealing that he hoped he could now outlive his nickname with the arrival of Poppy.

“Finally, I can’t be called Lil Dan anymore. Poppy’s a lot smaller than me, so let’s call it a day, I guess,” he mused.

The dad jokes continued on his Instagram Story, with Daniel sharing an adorable photo of himself holding his daughter.

“I fell asleep listening to the reasons why Dad is still not playing in the league and how I could have been anything if the Achilles hadn’t come out,” he joked.

He shared a second photo of the new family beaming as they enjoyed some bonding time.

“Mom is the biggest superstar I know,” he captioned the photo.

Daniel’s announcement was met with many congratulations from friends and followers.

“Congratulations to both of you and the thousands of Blues fans who will benefit from her performance in her rookie season of 2043,” one hopeful follower joked.

Another summed up the sentiment of many with: ‘Beautiful Poppy. I couldn’t think of better parents. Congratulations guys!

Daniel revealed that he and Ana were expecting again in September, taking to Instagram again to share the news.

“Baby Goz, we hope you get your mother’s nose,” he joked in his caption on a photo of a pregnant Ana.

“To everyone who wishes and is waiting for their little miracle… we are thinking of you,” he added.

He continued in the comments, “By praying this, the nickname ‘Lil Dan’ is taken from me and we pass it on to ‘Lil Goz.'”

The photo showed Daniel giving his wife a kiss as she showed off her growing baby bump.

The couple was flooded with well wishes from their friends and fans.

‘Lids off! Congratulations guys, great news,” TV presenter Jacqueline Felgate wrote in the comments.

‘New producer on the way. I love it,” sports presenter and podcaster Ollie Geale said beneath the sweet image.

Footballer Oleg Markov also added his kind words, writing: ‘Congratulations you two! Best day ever’.

The couple got married in December last year and shared special images of the big day.

Daniel looked dashing in a sharp suit, white shirt and tie.

Elsewhere, his blushing bride looked divine in an ethereal dress adorned with statement flowers.

Ana wore her brunette locks back and emphasized her delicate features with a subtle makeup palette.

Ana simply captioned the memories: “It’s always been you,” alongside a love heart emoji.

Daniel proposed to Ana in November 2021.

‘On Friday I asked my best friend to marry me (for real this time). So that we may love you forever,” he wrote at the time.

Ana also shared a photo of the precious moment, which shows her cuddling up to her husband while holding a glass of champagne and showing off her ring.

She simply captioned it with a love heart and the date of the engagement, “19.02.21.”
