Everton exploring permanent move for Aston Villa star after he rejected them last summer – as Sean Dyche looks to fix his side’s creativity issues

  • Everton are the second-lowest goalscorers in the Premier League this season
  • They are now targeting a permanent move for an Aston Villa star

Everton have revived interest in Aston Villa striker Jaden Philogene.

The 22-year-old rejected Everton and Ipswich in the summer to return to Villa from Hull City, but is available this window as Everton explore a permanent deal.

Philogene has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Villa this season, but has largely been used off the bench by Unai Emery.

He could now be given the opportunity for more game time at Goodison Park as the Toffees look to secure their Premier League status before moving into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock this summer.

Goals have been difficult to come by for Sean Dyche’s men this season, with only bottom club Southampton finding the net less often in 2024/25.

Everton have failed to score in eight of their last ten league matches and are now just one point above the bottom three.

The Merseyside club need more in the final third if they are to stay up and have turned their attention to Philogene in a bid to solve their creativity issues.

Everton are back in action on Thursday evening when they host Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup.

Next Wednesday they face Aston Villa, Philogene’s current club, in the Premier League.
