Georgia Love is slammed for calling emergency services after losing her phone in New York in extraordinary ordeal: ‘You actually called 911 for your mobile?!’

Georgia Love has come under fire after admitting she called 911 to help her find her lost phone in New York.

The former Bachelorette star, 35, took to Instagram on Sunday to detail her extraordinary ordeal after leaving her iPhone in an Uber in Manhattan.

Georgia, who traveled to the US for New Year’s Eve to be with her friends, revealed the incredible way she managed to get her phone back after losing it in the city.

She explained that she lost her phone in an Uber, but the driver couldn’t find it, so she tracked it down in Queens using Find My iPhone.

However, fans were distracted by one detail of her story, in which she admitted to calling 911 while searching for her phone after already filing a police report.

Her followers quickly took to the comments section to criticize her for using the emergency hotline to find her missing phone.

Georgia described the ordeal in a lengthy Instagram video in the style of the ‘stick a finger down’ challenge, where you put a finger down when you’ve done the thing in question.

She kicked off the video with these words: “Put a finger down if you left your phone in an Uber in Manhattan and didn’t realize it until you walked in and then couldn’t contact the Uber driver because you left it on your phone had booked and your phone was in the Uber.

“You’re alone, so you had to wait until the morning until you could use your friend’s phone to go on Find My iPhone and it was in a random location north of Manhattan that you’ve never been to.”

Georgia then explained how she traveled to an eight-storey car park in an attempt to find her phone, but to no avail, causing her to start tracking her phone again.

“So you go there because you can’t find it otherwise and you get there and it’s an eight-story parking garage where you’ll never be able to find it there,” she continued.

“So you start following it again and it has since moved and starts going through Manhattan and into Queens.

“You go home, you use your friend’s phone, you end up getting into your Uber account through his phone and contact the Uber driver. He’s in Queens, great, he’s still in the car.

“You call the Uber driver, he says he can’t find him anywhere, you get him on FaceTime and search the car with him because you can’t believe he’s not there because he’s in Queens and the phone is on Queens and that’s too much of a coincidence.

“But then you ask for his location, and his location is actually in a completely different part of Queens than where your phone says it is.”

Georgia then reported the incident to the police station, but after they told her it could take a week before anything happened, she decided to pursue it herself.

She explained, “So you go to the local police station and report the item missing. They say nothing can really be done until I leave because it will take a week.

‘Then you just decide to go to where the telephone is, because it has been there for a few hours.

“You take a Long Island train to Flushing, Queens and you start walking the streets and realize you can’t just knock on random doors.”

However, after realizing it wasn’t safe or wise to knock on “random” doors in the area, she then called the emergency hotline 911 and had police help her.

‘You call 911 and have the local police come with you. You wait outside in -5C [temperatures] an hour and a half on the side of the road,” she continued.

“You find a firehouse in New York City where you can go in and take some notes.

“You write your friend’s number on the sticky notes and stick it on the doors and cars near the location where the location is pinging so they can call you if they find it in the morning.

“You start to leave and then the police come along, they knock on some doors and say there’s no way we can find it.”

In a remarkable twist, they managed to track down her phone while she was knocking on the door, and although it was damaged, Georgia managed to get it back.

She concluded: ‘But at the third door they knock on, the man says, ‘Yes, I found it today, it was thrown in a bin and I saw it pinging from the side, so I picked it up and here it is ‘ .

“So you get your phone back and you have to take 24 hours to get it fixed, but then you get it done and you don’t die.”

Her husband Lee Elliot has stayed in Sydney while on holiday in the United States, sparking rumors of a rift between the couple.

They spent Christmas apart before Georgia left for New York on Boxing Day, increasing speculation in recent months that their marriage may be in trouble.

However, Georgia has since broken her silence on the ongoing speculation surrounding her relationship with Lee.

‘We didn’t do that [split]Actually. It’s best to stop speculating, especially not on my own page,” she said on social media.

“If I had something to tell you, I would tell it myself.”
