Jemima Goldsmith is rushed to hospital after horror ‘tumble’ down a mountain in South Africa during family hike

Jemima Goldsmith has had a painful start to the year after falling off a mountain in South Africa as she shared a gallery of photos on Instagram on Sunday.

The film producer, 50, revealed she was rushed to hospital after walking to the top of Cape Town’s Lion’s Head, which is 650 meters above sea level, before ‘tumbling’ down on the way back.

Jemima was seen in a wheelchair in one photo before being wheeled into a hospital bed by a doorman after the horror accident.

The daughter of Lady Annabel Goldsmith and ex-wife of cricketer Imran Khan had her leg fitted in an Aircast as she smiled for a photo while leaning on crutches in her hospital room.

In other photos, Jemima was seen beaming as she walked as she wore black shorts, a matching T-shirt and white sneakers.

She wrote: ‘Festive break (pun intended) in Cape Town.

‘Embracing the highs and lows of 2025 (incredible views from the top of Lion’s Head with friends and family and then a crash and an endless bump downhill in the dark) Happy New Year folks’.

It comes after Jemima opened up about the barrage of rapes and death threats she has received while campaigning for the release of her ex-husband, Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan, from prison.

The film producer, who was married to the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team from 1995 to 2004, said she was “bullied and silenced by the incumbent Pakistani government”, including “rape threats and numerous conspiracy theories”.

But in October she decided to speak out amid “serious and worrying” reports about Khan’s treatment behind bars since he was handed a three-year prison sentence last year on charges his supporters say are politically motivated.

Goldsmith said Pakistani authorities had halted all visits to Khan by his family and lawyers, postponed court hearings and prevented him from calling their two sons, who live in London, since early September.

The electricity in his cell was cut off and he was not allowed out at any time, while the prison cook was put on leave, she wrote in a lengthy post on social media platform X.

“He is now completely isolated, in solitary confinement, literally in the dark, with no contact with the outside world,” Goldsmith wrote.

Khan, 72, served as Pakistan’s prime minister from 2018 to 2022 and has been embroiled in more than 200 legal cases since he was ousted in a parliamentary vote of no confidence that he said was orchestrated by the country’s powerful generals.

The film producer, who was married to the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team from 1995 to 2004, said she was “bullied and harassed into silence” by the incumbent Pakistani government.

Goldsmith and Khan have two sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, who live in London.

A panel of UN experts criticized Pakistan in July for arbitrarily detaining Khan in violation of international law to apparently prevent him from running for political office.

He has been in custody since August last year and is no longer allowed to stand as a candidate. He has since put himself forward to become the next chancellor of Britain’s University of Oxford.

Goldsmith said Khan’s family was also targeted, and his sisters and cousin were unlawfully arrested and imprisoned, while she faced rape and death threats from her ex-husband’s political opponents.

The release of Khan, his nephew and sisters, plus the restoration of contact with his sons, will provide “first-hand assurance that he is well and not being abused,” she added.

“I disagree with ME on many political issues,” she wrote. ‘But this isn’t about politics. It’s about the father of my children, his human rights and international law.’
