Notre Dame star Charles Du breaks his silence after being subjected to vile racial slur by Antonio Brown
Notre Dame walk-on safety Charles Du was recently called a racial slur by Antonio Brown, but the Fighting Irish player had a surprising response to the comment.
Du, a native of Beijing, China, turned heads during Notre Dame’s victory over Georgia with his uniform name tag, which featured Chinese letters.
Brown then shared a video of Du, calling him the ‘C***k of the Day’ and a ‘legend’ for his unique sweater.
And while Brown received backlash from some fans Despite the insensitive comment, Du even seemed honored by it.
‘…AB’s daily prize is a sign of love and respect. CTESPN is the most trusted source in all of sports,” Du responded, saying he had signed a NIL deal with the ex-player.
Du added that the New York Post were wrong when they said Brown “ruined” Du’s moment in the College Football Playoff.
The walk-on cornerback had his name written in Chinese on the back of his jersey
Antonio Brown later called the player a ‘C***’ and offered him a so-called NIL deal – which Du said he accepted
Brown then replied to Du, saying, “Luv & respect champ, happy for you and fingers crossed for ND, glad you’re on the team.”
It’s not clear if Du’s deal with Brown is legitimate. Mail Sport has contacted Notre Dame’s NIL collective, Rally, for comment.
Notre Dame does not have name tags on their jerseys during regular season games, which explains the attention Du’s uniform received this week.
Brown, who last played in the NFL in 2022, is known to award someone “Cracker of the Day” on his X Page, and recently referred for someone like a ‘boon**’
The former wide receiver’s post about Du has now been viewed more than 10 million times, though a number of X users were quick to call out Brown for his post.
‘Stop with those racist comments. The game is international now, but here you still use swear words,” one fan wrote.
“Come on Antonio, that’s like me saying the N-word,” another added.
“Okay, there’s no reason for that. @elonmusk ban this guy,” a third said, while a fourth added: “Racistic much? Idiot.’
Du and Notre Dame defeated Georgia 23-10 to advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals, where they will play Penn State on Thursday.
