Marcus Rashford ‘ISN’T even worth £10m’, claims Ben Foster – as he slams the Man United star, insisting he turns up ‘once every 10 games’ and ‘has lost that fire’

Former Man United star Ben Foster has scored a goal at Marcus Rashford and wondered what the future holds for the striker at Old Trafford.

Rashford said he is ‘ready for a new challenge’ in a bombshell interview last week after being dropped by Ruben Amorim for the Manchester derby.

The United boss subsequently left the 27-year-old out of the squad following defeats to Tottenham and Bournemouth, suggesting the forward could move on in January.

Mail Sport reported earlier this month that Rashford will be available for £40 million, although the Red Devils may have to lower their asking price given his lack of form and playing time.

And Foster, who played in the Premier League for United, West Brom, Watford and Birmingham, tore into Rashford and insisted he has not been up to standard for some time.

“Marcus Rashford…” he said into his Cycling GK podcast. ‘There are so many people talking about him and saying, ‘on his day, on his day’.

‘His day is once every ten games. Really, it’s once every 10 games and you can’t have a fancy player in the modern game that gives you one game out of 10, it’s that simple.

‘Combined with the fact that he’s going to have so much reputation and baggage and everything that comes with that, I don’t think Mikel Arteta wants that anywhere near that Arsenal.

‘He has to leave Manchester United. I think it will be an MLS (move) or something like that. It will have to be a huge pay cut.”

Rashford signed a £325,000-a-week contract in the summer of 2023 after a stunning 2022-23 season, but has struggled to replicate that form since, scoring just twelve Premier League goals in a season and a half. .

And Foster went on to discuss Rashford’s attitude, claiming he felt he no longer had the same motivation, while also dismissing suggestions United could land as much as £40million for him.

“Once that fire goes out, can you get it back?,” he added. ‘It must come from him. I don’t think he can get it back.

“Again, you’re talking about money ruining everything, guys. Once people have that huge contract and they’ve got those five years in the bank and they’ve got everything they’re going to need for the rest of their lives, then that fire is gone.

‘They were talking about forty million pounds, you know. Even for ten I won’t pay ten million pounds… because of everything.’

Amorim has refused to rule Rashford out of United’s Boxing Day clash against Wolves, although ahead of the match he questioned the influence his camp has over him regarding the interview.

“It’s a difficult situation,” Amorim said. ‘I understand that these players have a lot of people around them and sometimes make choices that are not the player’s first idea. I understand, I can separate things.

‘I’m always there to help Marcus, just like any other player. They have to do what they have to do. They chose to do the interview because it wasn’t just about Marcus. I understand that.’

Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim added: ‘As a coach I only concentrate on the performance and the way he trains. For the rest, it is better for me and the club to deal with it when the time comes.

“Right now I’m focusing on improving Marcus. We need a talented guy like Marcus right now. I’ll forget about the interview now and see what I see on the field.’

Amorim dropped Rashford from the squad as he was unhappy with the player’s attitude and performance level during training.

It is understood that United will not put pressure on the head coach to select Rashford, even though excluding him could impact his value if he is sold in the January transfer window.
