The high-profile couple are building a $4.5 million luxury mansion in Castlecrag, 9km from the CBD.

The Today show host, 50, and his shoe design wife bought the property, a three-bedroom sprawl from the 1960s, for $3.2 million in 2021.

Karl informed his Instagram followers that demolition work had begun on the site.

Photos recently emerged showing workers completely removing the roof of the original house.

Aerial photographs also show that part of the wall of the building has been demolished.

The couple’s plans for their new home include four floors with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, a pool and a spa.

Other highlights of the proposed renovation include a courtyard, entertainment room and three-car garage.

In March, Karl and Jasmine finally received approval from Willoughby Council to proceed with their renovation, after a protracted row over their original development application that lasted a year.
