Jesinta Franklin has revealed that her husband Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin’ could play football after 2023.

The 35-year-old Sydney Swans superstar, who has signed up to play with the team for another year, could go on for years to come, his wife confirmed this weekend.

“He feels so good in his body – if his body allows it, he would play for another ten years. He lives and breathes football,” the 31-year-old said Stellar magazine.

“The most important thing is that as long as he is still contributing to the team, he keeps going. Unfortunately, it is part of life and sport that there is an expiration date.’

As for whether Buddy could play until 2024, the model says, “It’s open-ended; we’ll see how next year goes’.

However, the WAG admitted that Buddy went back and forth over his decision before committing to the Swans for another year.

“It was a big decision. He was 50-50 all along – some days he would wake up and find himself on one side of the fence. The next day he would be on the other side again,” she said.

In September, Buddy signed an 11-hour contract extension with the Sydney Swans.

Buddy, 35, shocked fans when the Swans appeared to confirm he will remain at the club next year, with a succinct statement that read: ‘One more #Bloods.’

Franklin’s nine-year $10 million deal with the Swans was set to expire at the end of the season and his future had long been the subject of speculation.

However, the two-time premiership winner himself put an end to the rumors with a succinct two-word statement that read simply: “One more.”

The bombshell came after months of speculation suggesting Franklin could retire or end his nine-year stint in Sydney to play for another club.

The Herald Sun reported that the Swans felt they were “close” to agreeing a 12-month extension with the AFL superstar and were “surprised” by reports that Franklin was linked with a move.

The four-time Coleman medalist continued to ponder his future after the Swans submitted a bid of $500,000 per year, a significant cut from Franklin’s current deal, which is reportedly in the region of $800,000 per season.

Jesinta and Buddy were married in 2016 at Mount Wilson’s Wildenstein Gardens in the Blue Mountains, NSW, after four years of dating.

They are parents to daughter Tullulah, two, and son Rocky, one.
