In D&D’s coziest and creepiest settings, you now pay what you want

Just in time for the holidays, Hit Point Press is creating its critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons supplements Humblewood And Heckna! pay-what-you-want. Get cozy this winter and play as residents of the magical forest of Humblewood, or be spooky as you venture beyond the glitz and glamor of a whimsical dark carnival to discover the secrets of Heckna.

Humblewoodwhich raised over $1 million during its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, is an award-winning 5e-compatible setting in which players act as birdfolk or other anthropomorphic animals called Humblefolk to save the forest from an all-consuming elemental fire. The book is compact and rich in lore, and formatted with art direction that feels cohesive alongside traditional D&D books. Although the setting was originally created with the original D&D 5e ruleset in mind, this downloadable copy of the text comes with an update to Humblewood compatible with the D&D 2024 rules – and it’s also available to play on D&D Beyond.

The strongest features of this setting are the unique species it contains Humblewood. From the array of bird-inspired species that sit at the top of the hierarchy, to all the four-legged critters that crawl the forest floor, each species feels lovingly crafted to bring out the folkloric qualities of true animal inspiration, such as wisdom or cleverness . And don’t let the cozy label fool you, because the lore of the world feels as comprehensive as any D&D plane with a cosmology and culture fit for a cartoonish animal kingdom. The adventure that makes up the second half of this book is more complex than you might expect, involving themes of ecology and sociopolitical complications that are worth exploring.

Heckna! is a bit of a darker departure from Hit Point Press’ cozy woodland creatures, luring adventures into the dark part of the forest with shimmering lights and tantalizing renditions of The Revalia. A setting guide and adventure for characters up to level 10, Heckna! is inspired by Victorian sideshows and hides a darker underside beneath its pun-filled, carnivalesque exterior. Leader Heckna craves attention and admiration, and as a disease called Clown Corruption spreads throughout the carnival, the players must decide how to fight this endless circus, or become part of Heckna’s act.

Whatever path through the woods you choose, cozy or creepy, Hit Point Press is running a fireplace flow to place in the background of a game night or holiday gathering. Both Humblewood And Heckna! are available digitally at HitPointPress.com
