Officers left traumatized as father is arrested for beheading his adorable one-year-old son

A father has been arrested for beheading his one-year-old son in a shocking crime in California.

Andrey Demskiy, 28, was handcuffed and charged by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) on Friday – after what family members called “a devastating series of events.”

Sheriff’s office investigators, meanwhile, described the crime scene as one of the worst they had ever seen after being called to a home along Versailles Way and Lamure Court around 4:15 a.m.

Following a call about a domestic disturbance between Demskiy and the boy’s mother, the suspect initially did not want to let them in, police said.

Officers then learned that Demskiy had thrown the child away, forcing entry. Public Information Officer Amar Gandhi said.

When they entered, a struggle took place, the top cop confirmed in several statements, describing the struggle as between deputies and Demskiy, and “physical” in nature.

It led to Demskiy’s arrest, Gandhi said, adding that it also allowed officers to enter a bedroom where the youth was believed to be.

There, officers found the small child who was later identified by family as the deceased Micah Demskiy. Gandhi recalled how officers found the boy decapitated and called the incident one of the worst the department had ever seen.

“For this family to have to pick up the pieces and move on — I mean, their world is shattered,” Gandhi told KCRA-3 outside the cordoned-off house on Saturday.

He said two women had been inside; the boy’s mother, Angelina Vinnikova, and Demskiy’s mother-in-law were able to come outside prior to the physical altercation.

The mother-in-law, who DailyMail.com could not immediately name, was also attacked by the suspect, police said.

She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Gandhi said. He added that officers were “visibly shaken” after the arrest of Demskiy, who he said “refused to open the door and surrender peacefully.”

Once the ‘uncooperative’ and ‘physically resistant’ suspect was subdued, police booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains in custody,” the SCSO wrote.

He is not eligible for bail, the office added. Jail records show he is charged with three felonies after the incident: assault with force likely to cause serious bodily harm, bodily harm to a spouse and murder.

Gandhi said the sheriff’s office is also working to provide resources to help Vinnikova, who married Demskiy in 2022, according to her social media. Condolences appeared on the grieving mother’s Facebook page on Sunday.

Her son was additionally remembered by loved ones as a “kind and joyful soul” in a recently launched venture GoFundMe pagewhich as of Sunday has nearly tripled its $25,000 goal.

“The sweet little boy was a kind and cheerful soul who loved all people and especially dogs,” wrote organizer Lilli Eirikh, calling Micah “our sweet boy.”

“His kind heart and beautiful smile warmed the hearts of everyone he came into contact with.

“He loved his family and especially his mother,” she added. “He loved being with family, going to the park and singing hymns with his family.”

Meanwhile, his father, who is accused of beheading the boy with a knife, has a court hearing scheduled for December 24. He has no criminal record, officials said.
