Tyson Fury’s next opponent MUST be Anthony Joshua in the ‘biggest fight in history of British boxing’, Eddie Hearn insists after Oleksandr Usyk defeat
- REPORT: Tyson Fury suffered his second straight defeat to Oleksandr Usyk
- The Gypsy King insisted he won the fight in Saudi Arabia by three rounds
- Eddie Hearn is determined to face Anthony Joshua next
Eddie Hearn has revealed he will stage a sensational showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury following the Gypsy King’s loss to Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury was defeated for a second time by the untouchable Usyk in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening, after all three judges scored the fight 116-112 in favor of the Ukrainian.
The two-time heavyweight champion stormed out of the ring after being shown the scorecards and insisted he had won the fight by at least three rounds.
He also gave a cryptic answer when asked about his future, telling the media: “Maybe you’ll see me fight again, maybe not.”
Joshua’s next opponent is yet to be confirmed after suffering defeat to Daniel Dubois in September, and Hearn is confident Fury’s latest setback will lead to a long-awaited feud between AJ and his British rival in 2025.
“I don’t think it’s time to start shouting, tonight it’s Usyk vs Fury, but the reality is there’s only one fight for Tyson Fury and that’s Anthony Joshua,” Hearn told DAZN.

Eddie Hearn has revealed he will play Fury v Joshua at Wembley next year
‘It’s probably the biggest fight in the history of British boxing, everyone will always want to see it.
‘And by the way, that wasn’t Tyson Fury looking finished, it wasn’t a flat performance, it wasn’t a bad performance, he didn’t look shy, he didn’t look like his punch. There was some resistance, which we talked about earlier had.
“I think Tyson Fury is still potentially at the peak of his powers, just not good enough to be Oleksandr Usyk tonight.
‘But for me AJ vs Fury is the one, it’s the one at Wembley, I’m going to put pressure on His Excellency [Turki Alalshikh] to take the fight, but that might be one for another day, tonight belongs to Oleksandr Usyk.
‘But Fury will struggle with this, I think. That goes for all fighters, AJ also struggled with the Dubois defeat, you are a winner and when you get beat it hurts and this will hurt Fury too.”
Fury later described Usyk’s win as a “Christmas present” from the three judges.
“I thought I won that fight,” he said. ‘I thought I won both fights, but I’m going home with two defeats under my belt. There’s not much I can do about it.
‘I can just pour my heart out.
Fury gave a cryptic answer on his future after his latest setback on Saturday night
Usyk retained his titles after a controlled display, beating Fury on points for the second time
But Fury claimed he had won by at least three rounds and denounced a ‘Christmas present’ from the judges
“I will believe until the day I die that I won that fight. I was aggressive, standing on the front foot all night and landing on the body and head.
“Frank Warren had me three or four laps ahead. Many people had at least two rounds ahead of me.
‘But I’m not going to cry over spilled milk. I can’t change the decision.
“If you don’t get the KO, this is what happens: you can’t guarantee a win.”
