Revealed: The punch stats for Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury fight tell the real story of their rematch as the Gypsy King’s team fume at scoring in unanimous decision loss
Punch statistics have revealed that Oleksandr Usyk has achieved a much higher percentage than Tyson Fury after beating the Gypsy King in their rematch in Saudi Arabia.
Usyk earned a unanimous points victory with the judges scoring the fight 116-112 in favor of the Ukrainian, a verdict rejected by Fury’s team.
The punch stats showed that Fury had thrown more punches in the match, with 509 to Usyk’s 423.
However, Usyk landed 179 over the 12 rounds, compared to 144 by Fury.
Overall, Usyk landed 42 percent of his punches, while Fury lagged far behind at 28 percent.
Usyk became the undisputed champion by just one point in May when he claimed a split-decision victory, but this time all three judges were clear in their verdict.

Fury promptly left the ring after the result was announced, after being clearly disappointed that his efforts received little recognition from the judges.
However, he was caught backstage by reporters and when asked about his opinion on the scorecards, the Gypsy King gave a surprising answer.
Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing after the fight, he said: ‘I swear to God, I thought I won by three rounds!’
Later, ESPN reported that Fury also said: ‘I thought I won the fight again, I was Larry Holmesed again. I was on the front foot the whole time. If you don’t get the knockout, this could happen.”
Meanwhile, Usyk appeared stunned when asked if he deserved to have his hand raised before facing heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who called for a rematch after losing to the Ukrainian great last year.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said he was stunned by the judges’ decision.
“How can Tyson only win four rounds in this fight?” Warren asked on TNT Sports.
‘It’s impossible. He got four rounds, each judge gave him four rounds, all different rounds.”

Despite leaving the ring quickly, Fury was later caught backstage by reporters claiming he felt he had won the fight ‘by three rounds’.
‘He is very disappointed, just like me. But I mean, I’m not saying there’s bias [but] everyone in the front row there, we all thought it was the same.”
‘Nuts. I don’t understand. I’m really, really disappointed about that.’
Warren also revealed that one of the three ringside judges had not scored a single round for Fury after halfway through the fight.
He continued, “How is that possible? That’s impossible.
“And the same goes for the other judge here, you give him one round in the last six, and the same here for this guy.
‘It’s crazy. And I am calm and collected. I don’t yell or scream.
‘That’s nonsense. Don’t get me wrong, they both put their heart and soul into it. Both fighters have sacrificed a lot.
“I know what Tyson went through, what he did before this fight, and I know Usyk would have done the same.
All you want is a level playing field and a fair crack, and that scoring wasn’t good at all.’
