What does the Winter Solstice mean for your star sign? From ‘party animal’ Geminis to ‘secretive’ Scorpios
After what feels like centuries of perpetual gloom, the days are finally getting longer.
And as the sun creeps up in Britain little by little, it signals changes in the cosmos – but what does that mean for your zodiac sign?
Speaking to FEMAIL, renowned psychic and astrologer Inbaal Honigman revealed that this period means a wave of celebrations for some and a fun, restful period for others.
‘The winter solstice is the shortest day and longest night of the year. It is also known as Midwinter and takes place on December 21,” the expert revealed.
‘It’s the end of vibrant Sagittarius season and the beginning of focused Capricorn season.
‘After that night the days will become longer, the nights shorter and a chain reaction of rebirth will occur.
‘When darkness recedes and light returns, nature will awaken again.
“But for now, the darkest day and night are experienced differently by the different signs.”

Here, Inbaal reveals what awaits various astrological signs as winter begins to thaw…
RAM
(March 21 – April 20)
You are a passionate optimist, Aries, which is why you see the positive in everything, even in the darkest part of the year.
For those born under the sign of Aries, the Winter Solstice is a chance to reset, recharge, and surge forward.
The next big solar event – the Spring Equinox, will be the start of Aries season, and you want to accomplish so much before you get there!
BULL
(April 21 – May 21)
You like to be cozy and warm, away from prying eyes, Taurus, and you love the opportunity to curl up at home with an old book.
Those born under the sign of Taurus appreciate the long nights and can celebrate the earliest sunset of the year during Midwinter.
You know the new year is coming soon, with its parties, goal setting and other tiring things, so don’t worry about making another mug of gingerbread hot cocoa for now.
TWIN
(22 May – 22 June)
You’re the ultimate party animal, so the entire festive season is your jam, Gemini, and you’ve been bouncing between gatherings and celebrations for weeks.
Those born under the sign of Gemini have more invitations than they can handle, so the early Midwinter sunset allows them to host multiple events in one evening.
You definitely don’t mind celebrating despite the storms, the rain and the long dark night because you’re not looking forward to Dry January and the gym.
CANCER
(June 23 – July 23)
Sensitive and family-oriented, the holidays are a time to catch up with siblings, cousins, and aunts, Cancer, and you’d rather do all of that at home.
Days, nights, and weekends are all the same for those born under the sign of Crab, because their schedule is determined by the needs of those around them, not the weather or the calendar date.
You’ll be fine with the longest night, the shortest night and everything in between, as you bake your famous Victoria sponge for your grateful house guests, rain or shine.
LION
(July 24 – August 23)
Sunny and positive in nature, the middle of winter is not your happiest time, Leo. You are literally running on solar energy, as your planetary ruler is the sun.
Those born under the sign of Leo like their days to be longer and their evenings to be brighter. They feel more at home at a garden party than at a loud, messy festive event.
Patiently and confidently, they wait expectantly for the mornings to become sunnier and the nights to become shorter.
VIRGIN
(August 24 – September 23)
Friendly and sociable, you like to celebrate everything, Virgo. If there is an interesting moment in the natural world, it is fascinating to you.
Those born under the sign of Virgo are curious, so the full moon, the new moon, the longest day and the shortest day are all reasons to get excited.
The holiday season as a whole is a bit much for you because you don’t want to forget any seasonal traditions. So midwinter is a favorite because it requires no advance planning.

LIBRA
(September 24 – October 23)
You are a graceful and elegant sign, so the beauty of the shortest day is not lost on you, Libra. You appreciate the unique aesthetic of winter.
Those born under the sign of Libra love balance, so the Equinox is more your time of year. But you can bask in the flattering glow of the 3 p.m. sunset.
Chaotic, messy festive parties aren’t really your thing anyway, so a circle of good friends chatting about the seasons sounds like a better idea for your Libra mind.
SCORPIO
(October 24 – November 22)
Enigmatic and intense, you love the dark side of the year, Scorpio. You are a great secret keeper and appreciate the shadows and mysteries of life.
For those born under the sign of Scorpio, the longer the night, the longer the party, so grab your leather boots and head out.
Only those closest to you know you very well, because you keep your cards close to your chest, so you feel less exposed on the shortest day.
ARCHER
(November 23 – December 21)
Midwinter is the exact end of Sagittarius season, so this one may feel personal, Sagi. Your cheerful ways make for the glittering highlights of the holidays, and on the 21st things change.
Those born under the sign of Sagittarius are free-spirited and enthusiastic. Always up for a party, their energy is boundless.
When you say goodbye to Sagittarius season during Midwinter, you can’t wait for it to start again next year. It really is the most wonderful time of the year for you
IBEX
(December 22 – January 20)
At the winter solstice, Capricorn season begins and everyone starts to look a little more like you, Capricorn. Ambitious, focused and goal-oriented, what’s not to like?
Those born under the sign of Sea Goat are smart and mature, and since your season is about to begin, others will act like adults too.
It’s no coincidence that gym memberships, porridge and vegan products are popular in the New Year, as Capricorn discipline is contagious.
AQUARIUS
(January 21 – February 19)
The natural world is important to you, Aquarius, and the Winter Solstice is a time of endings, when all nature sleeps.
Those born under the sign of the Water Bearer look to the future with optimism and positivity.
Now that we have reached the Midwinter Point, nature returns and anticipation is awakened.
PISCES
(February 20 – March 20)
You are a dreamer, Pisces, a lover of illusions, and you give free rein to your imagination. Midwinter conjures up thoughts of hillside ceremonies, stone circles and drums.
Those born under the sign of the Fish are prone to romantic ideas of times gone by; the Winter Solstice feels like something out of an old book or folk tales.
As the days became shorter, Pisces will notice the earlier sunsets, and now they will be optimistic when they see the trend reversing.
