Terrified teen ‘begged for life’ after being fatally stabbed in alleged 30-person brawl in Melbourne

Neighbors have described the terrifying final moments of a Melbourne teenager who died from stab wounds after fleeing his alleged attackers during a huge brawl.

The fight between more than 30 people broke out on McBurnie Drive, Kurunjang, in Melbourne’s northwest, just after 7pm on Friday.

By the time police arrived, the group had dispersed, but they found three men, aged 15, 18 and 22, injured at the scene.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 18-year-old was pronounced dead.

On Saturday, the teenager’s family could be seen comforting each other in the area surrounding the alleged altercation.

They told Nine news he had only recently graduated from high school.

He had lived on McBurnie Drive, where the alleged fight took place, for several years.

Meanwhile, neighbors described his desperation as he ran from his alleged killers.

“He said a group of people jumped out of the car with machetes and chased him and his friends,” Ms Vines said.

“He was terrified, you could see the look in his eyes, he was scared.”

Another neighbor, Stacey Heaney, had overheard the commotion and was shocked.

“It’s just this time of year and it’s just devastating to hear someone’s final plea for their life,” she said.

Neighbor Glenn Vines said the teen’s mother was “hysterical” as the terrifying scene unfolded.

“That was the worst.”

Trish Vines added that she was “very upset and didn’t get much sleep at all last night.”

The 15-year-old and 22-year-old were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At the hospital they are under police guard.

Police previously said they believed the people involved in the alleged brawl were known to each other.
