Linda Nolan, 65, suffers horror fall and ‘knocks out’ her teeth amid ongoing battle with cancer – after revealing she ‘never expected to make it this far’

Linda Nolan has revealed she suffered a nasty fall that left her seriously injured during her ongoing battle with cancer.

The 65-year-old singer was given the all-clear for breast cancer in 2006, but was later diagnosed with an incurable secondary cancer in 2017. Earlier this year, tumors in her brain – which were thought to be stable – were found to have grown.

Linda looked on the bright side and remembered the fall, which happened in October, and how her sudden lack of teeth, along with a bald head from chemotherapy, deterred trick or treaters.

She told me The mirror: ‘I use jokes and humor as a way to cope, but of course it’s scary. And I have my days when I’m terribly down.’

‘I’m there, bald as hell, no teeth and these poor little girls were running away screaming. I couldn’t stop laughing. I love Halloween and they actually thought I was a witch. A real one!’.

Linda explained that the fall was not her first and after previously ‘looking like I had gone five rounds with Michael Tyson’, she moved in with sister Denise.

The sister of Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan went on to say that she thought her 60th birthday would be her last, but was “still here” five years later.

“It’s easy to sit back and get depressed about it, but I’m still going to keep going. My hope for this year? To avoid dying, of course. I just want to be here with my family. I want us all to be here this time next year, that’s the goal.”

Last month, Linda revealed that the festive season means more to her this year as she never expected to ‘make Christmas’

The star explained her Christmas plans Woman magazineShe told them she was looking forward to going to her sister Denise’s house and finding out what all the little ones got from Santa.

She said: ‘I can’t wait [for Christmas]. Not to be morbid, but I didn’t think I’d make it to Christmas, so it’s a real bonus.

“We love Christmas as a family and we all attend [sister] Denise’s. It’ll be great. We all have so much fun when we get together, so I can’t wait. I especially enjoy seeing all those little ones and how excited they get.’

Linda added that she hoped to be here next year to celebrate with her family before issuing a health update.

She told the publication that she undergoes chemotherapy once every three weeks and has blood drawn. If the results are positive, she will undergo another round of treatment.

She added: ‘You have to be careful with chemo. I’ve lost my hair again, I’m bald for the fifth time and it keeps happening to me every time.

‘I’m desperate when the time comes. I get painful cramps in my leg, which really hurts, but other than that there is no pain, and that’s a good thing.’

Despite her health problems, Linda has remained positive and told the magazine that she has been battling cancer since 2005 and has vowed to keep fighting for as long as she could.

Linda added that she keeps her spirits up by making sure she stays busy and gets outside as often as possible.

She said she would even sit outside in her yard in the freezing cold because the fresh air makes her feel better.

Staying busy is important, just like getting outside. Even if you’re sitting outside in your garden in this cold weather, you always feel better just getting some fresh air.”

Last week, Linda told the Mirror that a recent fall made her realize she could no longer live independently and moved in with her sister.

She said she had to accept that she could not return to her home and despite only moving in with Denise and Tom temporarily, she has now been living with them for 18 months.

Linda’s update comes after she begged cancer to leave her family alone in an interview with Good Morning Britain in August.

Linda fought back tears as she shared her plea as she prepared to undergo treatment for the fifth time.

The Nolans star was completely cleared of breast cancer in 2006, but was later diagnosed with an incurable secondary cancer in 2017.

And in August, Linda provided an update that the tumors in her brain – which were thought to be stable – had grown.

Linda revealed on GMB that she would be taking another course of chemotherapy as a result of the update – and shared the news that she could lose her hair again.

She also revealed the physical toll the ongoing treatment was taking on her smile, pointing to a gap in her teeth and exclaiming, “Look, I’ve lost a tooth!”

Linda’s sisters also have a history of cancer, with herself, Colleen and Anne all diagnosed and Bernie dying from the disease in 2013.

“I’m just like everyone else really, I just want it to go away,” Linda said of the prevalence of cancer in her family. “Or at least leave us alone for a while.”

“You would have a right to be furious at the universe because your family has been cursed with the big C,” host Richard Madeley told Linda, before asking if she was angry about how this has affected her family.

She replied: ‘I asked Bernie once, someone said to her, “Do you ever think, Why me?” and she said, “No, I guess, why not me”. It’s not pick and choose.

“You can’t write your name down and say you’re next in line. But we’ve had a hard time with it.’
