More than 85,000 highchairs sold at retailers such as Target and Toys ‘R’ Us have been recalled after reports of 20 falls.
Toy and nursery company TOMY International is recalling its Boon Flair and Flair Elite highchairs because the bolts used to attach the chair to the base can become loose, posing a fall hazard.
About 83,000 affected models have been sold in the US, with another 2,850 in Canada, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The company said it was aware of 20 cases resulting in falls resulting in 11 injuries, including bruises and scratches.
It is now offering parents a free repair kit with the correct nuts and bolts, which can be ordered from TOMY’s website, as federal regulators recommend that they stop using the seats immediately.

TOMY products are sold in Target, Toys ‘R’ Us and formerly Bed Bath and Beyond.
However, the company said there was no need to return the product.
A TOMY official said in a statement: “We want to make sure your child has only the safest products we can provide and will work to remedy this situation quickly – with your child’s safety in mind.”
The Flair Elite highchairs sold for about $380 between 2008 and 2009, while the Boon Flair models cost between $230 and $250 and retailed from January 2008 to February 2017.
Families can check whether their high chair is an affected model on the TOMY website.

The Flair Elite models have a white and orange plastic seat, a white tray and a metal base, while the Boon Flairs have a gray plastic base and we sold in ten different color combinations.
TOMY is a Japanese manufacturer of children’s toys, nursery products and play sets.
