80% of Dems think Biden talks about RFK Jr. MUST debate – including 72% of those who support president

The vast majority of Democratic primary voters say they would like to see President Joe Biden debate fellow Democratic candidates running for president during the 2024 election campaign.

A USA Today/Suffolk University poll shows that 80 percent of Democrats would like Biden to run against challenger Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in a series of debates.

Even 72 percent of Biden supporters turned out to be in favor of the idea.

The possibility that such a debate will actually take place is slim to zero, as Biden shows no interest in participating as he calculates he has little to gain from such an encounter.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has also stated that it will not sponsor debates.

Such positions are typical when a president is running for a second term with incumbents on both sides of the aisle who tend to avoid televised debates.

“As you know, no incumbent R [Republican] or d [Democrat] have held debates,” said Kevin Munoz, a spokesman for the Biden campaign USA today.

It is Kennedy’s cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 69, who is now taking on a challenge to Biden who has limited chances of success.

“The decision not to debate ignores the 82% of women, 84% of unionized households, 86% of independents, and 90% of young voters who don’t just plan to vote in next year’s Democratic primary or caucus.” of their state, but would do so. would like to see a series of Democratic primaries,” said David Paleologos, director of Suffolk’s Political Research Center who conducted the poll.

The feverish anticipation for a showdown is evident on social media. One user said it would be “comedy gold” given Biden’s unconventional detractors. Others beat up a selection process that was “manipulated” and “anti-democratic.”

While Biden’s nomination has not faced major threats, the poll highlights the importance of consolidating and boosting the Democratic base.

Neither candidate is likely to win the Democratic nomination, with party apparatchiks rallying around Biden trying to avoid a real primary challenge.

Biden would be 86 at the end of his second term if he wins the presidential election next year.

During the 2020 election, in the absence of a sitting Democratic president, Biden participated in 11 DNC-sanctioned debates during the first season.
