7 new movies and TV shows to stream this weekend (October 4) on Netflix, Prime Video, Max and more
Spooky season is here – and to celebrate the arrival of October, the world’s top streaming services are ready to deliver plenty of scares over the next four weeks.
Some aren’t sticking around either, as Netflix and Max are offering some terrifying treats to stream this weekend. But if you’re not a horror fan, there are plenty of other less terrifying recommendations on this list, including the return of two fan-favorite shows. So whether you’re ready or not, we’re confident you’ll find something worth checking out in the coming days. Enjoy!
Heartstopper season 3 (Netflix)
Heart stopper has taken the world by storm and it’s easy to see why. This coming-of-age story tackles all kinds of tough themes, like LGBTQ+ representation, self-discovery, mental health, and more, so it was refreshing to see a story like this do so well.
There are also some great guest stars in season 3, like Marvel alumnus Hayley Atwell, who plays Nick’s aunt, and Bridgerton‘s own Jonathan Bailey has a cameo as an author. In addition to the series regulars, we also have some big new names to fall in love with again in the latest chapter of one of Netflix’s best shows. Make sure you have enough tissues to get through season 3 because it’s another emotional season!

The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 (Prime Video)
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost two years The legend of Vox Machina graced our screens for the last time. But now that the third season of the underrated Prime Video R animated series is available from the streaming giant, I’m ready to be reunited with the titular gang of misfits as they embark on more hilariously gross and heartbreakingly dramatic adventures.
Following the season 2 finale, the group known as Vox Machina continues their quest to end the tyrannical rule of the Chroma Conclave – aka the seemingly unkillable dragons who currently rule Emon with an iron fist. Judging from the official Season 3 trailer, one of the best Prime Video shows will not only get my adult animated show itch back, but also have me screaming at anyone (who will be listening anyway) that they’ve totally missed an opportunity. fantastic series. Give it a try, why not you?

Salem’s plot (max.)
Stephen King’s novels have been adapted several times over the years, including Salem’s fatewhich has just been remade by Max. I used to love seeing it Salem’s Lot 2024 retained one integral detail and it seems like it stays true to the source material in many ways, which is always a recipe for a great adaptation. The King of Horror has also stated that he is happy with the overall product, but based on early critical reception, it seems that many disagree.
Anyway, this is it the perfect movie to start the countdown to Halloween, in my opinion. Salem’s Lot has everything you could want from a classic horror movie: creepy houses, even creepier vampires, and a brooding writer returning to his strange hometown. Maybe it’s one of the best horror movies you’ll stream this year? I’m sure you, and not King himself, will be the judge of this.

It’s in (Netflix)
It’s what’s inside is one of the most anticipated new Netflix movies of 2024 – and for good reason. Following the buzz generated by this year’s Sundance Film Festival, which took place in January, Netflix has raised $17 million for the rights to this psychological horror thriller from Greg Jardin, who is best known for his independent films.
The neon-colored trailer radiates the same atmosphere as that of the A24 Bodies Bodies Bodies in that the group of young adults find themselves on a lavish estate, before a wedding they all have to attend, and play a game that quickly gets out of hand. It sounds like a wild ride and I can’t wait to get on board to find out if it deserves to be included in our best Netflix movie guide.

The Franchise (Max)
Some of my favorite movies and shows are parodies. By Mars attacks! having fun Independence Day, Unpleasant Shaun of the Dead playful pun Dawn of the dead, I like a comedic twist on films that take themselves a little too seriously. Spoofs are even better, with eg Cabin in the woods putting a twist on horror films and now The franchisewhich aims to pick apart the best superhero films and their less appreciated genre cousins.
But it’s not just criticism of the subgenre. The new series focuses equally on the entertainment industry Extras And Episodes did for it. Looking at the trailer and what I’ve read about the plot, the new comedy series pokes fun at Hollywood superhero films like the MCU and follows a film crew as they try to make the next big movie hit. It comes from the talented minds of Jon Brown (Follow-up)Armando Iannucci (Stalin’s death) and Sam Mendes (Skyfall), so it has the potential to be one of the best Max shows.

Hold Your Breath (Hulu/Disney Plus)
Now I’m not a horror fan, but if the legendary Sarah Paulson is in it, I can’t resist watching. Now that the spooky season is upon us, Hold your breath (available now on Hulu and Disney Plus) could also be the perfect watch to get ready for Halloween. Paulson stars as Margaret, a mother raising two young daughters in 1930s Oklahoma. Haunted by the past, she descends further into madness as she becomes convinced that a mysterious presence in dust storms threatens her family and takes desperate measures to protect them.
After I saw Paulson Birdhouse, FrayedAnd walk, I have no doubt she will deliver a terrifyingly good performance Hold your breath. But we’ll have to wait and see if it makes it onto our best Hulu movies and/or best Disney Plus movies lists.

Love is blind season 7 (Netflix)
After watching Love is blind UK, I can’t wait to watch Love is blind season 7. This time, 29 singles from Washington DC brave the pods in an attempt to find everlasting love without ever seeing each other.
But as emotional connection tries to overcome physical attraction, the unusual experiment sometimes doesn’t work for everyone (although there have been several marriages and two babies produced on the show), and this often leads to drama, love triangles, secrets and problems. heartache. As a reality TV fan, I can’t help but love it!
