A morbidly obese man whose doctor told him he was a “time bomb” has lost 365 pounds naturally, without drugs or bariatric surgery.
Nicholas Craft, 42, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, had had trouble overeating since childhood and weighed 300 pounds in high school. By June 2019, his weight had ballooned to 649 pounds.
Nearly four years later, after a promise to her grandmother, she’s down to 285 pounds as she continues to work toward her goal weight.

Craft explained that she turned to food for comfort while battling depression, and that overeating became a vicious cycle.
His diet led him to withdraw from family and friends, which only exacerbated his sedentary lifestyle.
Craft’s weight caused pain in his knees, aches in his body and shortness of breath. He couldn’t fit in normal size vehicles and he stopped traveling and attending family events.
At 5-foot-9, his doctor warned him that his life was at stake if he didn’t change his lifestyle, saying it was a “time bomb.”
Craft also had the support of his grandmother Georgia Moody, who encouraged him to lose weight before her death in 2019.
“My grandmother passed away before I could see my weight loss transformation,” she said. ‘She wanted to see me more often. I promised her that she would lose weight so I could see her more.

She also cut calories, starting with a limit of 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day, and increased her daily movement. As the weight dropped, he began strength training with dumbbells.
Craft has learned to control his cravings over the years and is no longer tempted by foods he used to overeat.
His breathing and physical pain have improved. It has more power and can fit back into a normal vehicle.
He also has a new doctor, who praised him for his ‘incredible’ weight loss.
Craft said she wished her grandmother could see her progress.

Craft shared that she plans to lose more weight until she reaches her goal.
“She would be very proud of me,” he told Fox News. ‘She was my source of motivation.’
