After a March Madness loss to end their season, the Iowa women’s basketball team received some words of encouragement from a famous alum.
In a very exciting game on Monday night, the seven seed Cyclones of Iowa State played a game against two seed Stanford until overtime.
There, Iowa State lost to the Cardinal 87-81, being outscored 21-15 in overtime.
But after the loss, they were met in the locker room by San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback and former Iowa State football player Brock Purdy.
He gave them some words of encouragement and praised them for their play.

“You guys are really crazy ballers,” Purdy said. “I hope you know the standard here is high, man. Standard is high.
‘You have laid a foundation. You guys have had a foundation with Coach Fennelly, and what you continue to do and allow the younger guys to come in and keep it going. That’s it, guys.
“So heads up. You walk out because you all put it there. That’s all I have to say.
“I love you guys, what you stand for, and I’m so proud to be a Cyclone and watch because what an honor.
“So heads up, crazy champions in my eyes. Love you girls.”
