30-stone sex attacker who claimed he was ‘too big’ to rape anyone is jailed for preying on two women

A rapist who claimed he was too big to carry out a sexual attack has been sentenced to prison for abusing two women.

Lee Mulholland, who reportedly weighs 50 pounds, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for attacking and assaulting his victims.

Mulholland claimed that if he had lay on top of one of the victims, she would not have been able to breathe due to his size.

But the jury found the 38-year-old woman from Armadale, West Lothian, guilty of raping herself and the other woman.

He was also convicted of controlling and insulting behavior towards one of his victims.

The crimes took place between 2019 and 2022 in West Lothian.

Mulholland, who was being prosecuted for crimes against women at the time of the attacks, was on trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

Judge William Gallacher also ordered that the sex offender be supervised for five years after his release because of the danger he posed.

Both women previously spoke of their ordeal at Mulholland’s hands during a chilling trial in Livingston.

He was physically violent, called them insulting names and became angry and jealous.

Some of his actions were recorded on a Ring doorbell that he had ironically installed so he could monitor one of the women.

He forced a victim to borrow money from family members to pay for his sporty yellow Ford Focus ST after he lost his job.

Mulholland was also aggressive towards a dog, grabbing it by the tail and standing on its legs.

Mulholland testified at trial, claiming that any sexual contact was consensual.

In his closing speech, his QC Ian Duguid asked the following question to the jury: ‘Is it physically possible for a 60-pound man to climb on top of a woman who is only 5 feet 6 inches tall?

She said she was traumatized because she couldn’t push him away and couldn’t talk.

‘Mulholland says it was always the norm for her to be on top of him.’

Mr Duguid told the court today/yesterday that Mulholland continues to receive the support of his mother and partner.

Judge Gallacher told the sex offender: ‘I have had the opportunity to consider the statements of these victims.

‘They eloquently describe the impact your behaviour has on them, both during the commission of the offences and in the long term.

‘The responsibility for this lies entirely with you.’

Mulholland, who remains on the sex offenders register indefinitely, was also given an anti-harassment order prohibiting him from having contact with either woman.
