DOWNEY, California — Three men were killed in a weekend shooting near a homeless camp in Southern California, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire in a dry riverbed near Interstate 105 in Downey shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, police said in a statement.
They found three men with gunshot wounds. All three men died at the scene, the statement said.
It is unclear what prompted the shooting, but police said it appeared to be an “isolated incident.”
The incident was investigated. ABC7 reported that the shooting occurred near a homeless camp in the city of about 14,000 people, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
