I promise you he’s not as afraid of climbing as he seems here.
Yorkshire’s 22-year-old Hamish McArthur brought a 14-strong contingent of fans to his event today and is currently in third place in the battle for a place in the final. He only found out he was coming in June – how far can we go?
Toby Roberts is also competing in this event and has finished seventh so far, with the top eight progressing to the final.
Josh Kerr: There IS a fight between me and Jakob Ingebrigtsen
No one was paying attention to Cole Hocker last night. Not until he threw cold water on the supposed 1500m duopoly.
Josh Kerr was meant to be the golden boy, and ultimately silver is nothing to be ashamed of. He ran a great race and is now a two-time Olympic medallist. But it was his rivalry with Norwegian rival Jakob Ingebrigtsen that many thought would spice up the final.
Now, sitting on the comfortable Eurosport sofa, Kerr has openly discussed their rivalry, revealing that there are ‘real arguments’ and what ‘turns him on’ so much.
And the first gold medal of the day goes to…
Sign me up for speed walking. At the rate I’m passing the loiterers on the streets of London, I’d be in with a medal.
Spain took the first gold of the day. I would say they did it with rapid strides, but that would be too fast.
Maria Perez and Alvaro Martin are seen here celebrating their marathon racewalk mixed relay triumph. You will never sing that.
Watch: Hurdles are no match for Cindy Sember
By the way, this is Cindy Sember’s run from before. All aspiring horde-violators, take note.
After a slow start, the Michigan-born athlete found her groove.
After finishing fourth in the 100m hurdles in Rio in 2016, she is now back in full force.
Good start in diving
Enough reasons to be optimistic about the men’s 3-meter plank diving.
After two attempts, Jack Laugher is fifth and Jordan Houlden (pictured) seventh. Three competitors have even dived three times, so of course they have a points advantage. The best 12 qualify for the final, so so far it’s a piece of cake.
Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix shares profound message on Instagram
Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix was in tears after finishing sixth in the 10m platform, bravely admitting that three years ago she ‘didn’t want to live anymore’.
She is already a hero to many, as her father, the famous chef Fred Sirieix, said. She also won a bronze medal, like Lois Toulson.
Now she has shared an emotional message on Instagram. It’s been a long journey, and very sincere.

“It felt pretty good. I’ve got a lot more in the tank but it was good to get the nerves and nervousness out. I’m blessed to be here and I’m happy and healthy,” she told BBC Sport.
“I’m ready for a medal. I’m capable of it. With God’s grace, it’ll be okay.”
