2 horses ran onto a Los Angeles freeway and were struck, killed by passing vehicles
LOS ANGELES — Two horses were struck and killed by passing vehicles Tuesday night after they entered a Los Angeles freeway, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, other drivers were able to rescue a third horse and helped the animal to the shoulder of the freeway to avoid being hit itself.
CHP Officer Josh Greengard told the Southern California Newsgroup that the horses all had a ‘horse farm’ and probably came from a nearby ranch.
The CHP received multiple calls reporting the horses running into the lanes of the freeway around 9 p.m. Tuesday, the agency said. Later calls reported two of the horses had been struck by vehicles.
One of the vehicle’s occupants suffered minor injuries in the crash.
