1000-lb Sisters star Amy Slaton appeared in court Thursday to answer drug and child abuse charges, days after she was arrested at a Tennessee zoo.

Slaton, 36, was reportedly bitten by a camel at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo on Labor Day. However, when police were called to the park about the bite, they noticed “suspicious odors” coming from their vehicle, officers said.

Responding officers discovered “what they thought were mushrooms” and “what they thought was marijuana” in Slaton’s car. They smelled marijuana in the car and saw the drugs “in plain view.”

Slaton and friend Brian Scott Lovvorn were arrested and charged with illegal possession of Schedule I items, illegal possession of Schedule VI items, and two counts of child abuse.

Two children under the age of eight were in the car when they were arrested — Slaton’s children Gage Deon, four, and Glenn Allen, two. Tammy Slaton reportedly picked up the children after the arrest.

Slaton looked deadpan as she arrived for her arraignment, as her attorney continued to reinforce her claim that she had been bitten by a camel.

She received medical treatment at the zoo and was pictured being wheeled out of a safari park in Tennessee on a stretcher, with a bandage on her forearm.

Co-owner of Tennessee Safari Park Claude Conley, 44, denied that Slaton was bitten and said The American Sun “There is no bruise. She cut her arm on something, it is not consistent with an animal bite.”

Attorney Taylor Hughes said TMZ She was certainly attacked by the animal and said Slaton thanked her fans for their love and support during her legal troubles.

Slaton and Lovvorn were booked into the Crockett County Jail on $10,000 bail. A representative confirmed the pair were released Tuesday.

The spokesperson told the publication, “Amy’s brother Chris Combs and Hughes’ bail bonds company released them from the Crockett County Jail together and they left with Chris.”

Slaton finalized her divorce from ex-husband Michael Halterman last year.

The couple have two children and are said to have had a falling out over their appearance on the TLC reality show.

The couple welcomed their first child, Gage Deon, in November 2020 and their second son, Glenn Allen, in July 2022.
