A 10-year-old girl named Miracle has been hailed as a hero after bravely helping her pregnant mother deliver her baby sister at home.

When Viola Fair, 30, of Jennings, Missouri, went into labor three weeks early on Oct. 23, her daughter Miracle Moore sprang into action. The fourth grader called 911 and connected with dispatcher Scott Stranghoener.

“Hello, I think my mother is in labor,” she said at the beginning of the recorded conversation, which was played back on the Today show Thursday as part of Hoda Kotb’s ‘Morning Boost’ segment.

Miracle opened the front door for emergency responders and stayed on the phone with Stranghoener for nearly 11 minutes as she waited for the ambulance to arrive.

She calmly followed his instructions and explained to her mother that she need to lie on her back in the middle of a bed or on the floor.

Stranghoener advised the little girl to get towels or blankets and put them under her mother’s body because she was having trouble lying down.

In the background, Fair could be heard screaming in pain, as Miracle balanced to comfort her and carry out the dispatcher’s directions.

“It’s okay, mommy, it’s okay!” Miracle assured her mother before telling Stranghoener, “I think her waters have broken…”

‘She comes! she comes!’ she screamed, urging her mother to lie down. ‘She’s here! She sticks her mouth out.’

Miracle was initially surprised when Stranghoener told her that he would help her give birth over the phone.

‘Hey?’ she asked, but remained calm.

‘She is gone!’ cried wonder. “She’s breathing and she’s crying now.”

“We have a set of protocols that we follow, and she followed all my instructions to a ‘T’ and did a great job,” Stranghoener said of Miracle

Stranghoener advised her to gently wipe the newborn’s mouth and nose.

“Be very careful,” he said. “Don’t drop the baby, okay?”

Miracle also made sure the umbilical cord was not wrapped around her little sister’s neck before wrapping her in a clean towel and covering her head as instructed by the dispatcher.

When the first responders arrived, she directed them to her mother’s room.

“You did very well,” Stranghoener told her.

In conversation with NBC news affiliate KSDK after giving birth, Stranghoener shared how impressed he was with Miracle.
